Kevin White’s Shin and Day 6 Update
“Next week, we’ll bring him out, he’ll do some light running – you’ll probably see that early next week”.
While it is discouraging to see that White has still been unable to get healthy from this shin injury, Fox and others have displayed no concern about it as a long-term issue.
White clearly will do the rushing on his own. But if White still is on active/PUP then, the Bears would have two options.
7 overall pick Kevin White has the long-term potential be the best wide receiver in an excellent 2015 draft class at the position, but his perceived rawness and the sheer number of pass-catching targets on the Bears offense make it possible that he won’t be a huge factor in his first season. Keep a close eye on this situation moving forward, and if you are a Bears fan just cross your fingers that White and his shins will be healed up in time for the regular season. Sure enough, Chicago selected arguably the most exciting wide receiver in college football, Kevin White out of West Virginia. Defensive end Willie Young, coming back from a season-ending Achilles injury, was not placed on the PUP list, has been in uniform but largely limited to things like sideline running on Thursday pulling a weighted sled for resistance. At this rate, though, it seems unlikely he will practice with the team during training camp.
“He hasn’t done any running on hard ground”, Rapoport noted.
White’s speed is near priceless, and he is as sculpted as any player in the league. I can understand why the team would want to be cautious with such a valuable asset, but at the same time would like to see him get some work in as the preseason games are right around the corner.
White has yet to practice in training camp due to a shin injury, which also kept him out of OTAs.
“First and foremost, he has been shut down for seven weeks”, Fox said.
Asked if there’s dread this serves as a constant complaint of White, Pace told her, “Once we delve it managed, we should always be good”. When he’s physically ready, White shouldn’t miss a beat. The Bears haven’t publicized exactly what White’s injury is, but Fox has likened it to shin splints.
