Sheriff: Father killed 2 sons before attempting suicide
Sheriff Darren Campbell says that Fuller had been drinking and that he had gotten into a verbal altercation with his son’s mother.
The Iredell County sheriff says if Fuller wakes up, they’ll charge him with first degree murder. It appears as though the gun belonged to Fuller’s wife and had been hidden in the house.
Their mother is in shock and the sheriff tells WBTV her church is helping her cope and plan funeral arrangements. He was flown to Carolinas Medical Center Main with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The person who heard Fuller’s confession has been interviewed, Monday’s report said.
Fuller’s Facebook page says he’s from Cooperstown, New York.
He then tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head.
Neighbors claim the family got the weapon for protection and have been living inside the home for about a year.
‘I’ve dealt with these kind of cases, but any time you see an innocent person – especially a child – in such a violent way…to end up like this on a Sunday morning is tragic in every sense of the word, ‘ sheriff Campbell told WSOC.
Deputies made entry in to the house and discovered two small children, both male, ages four and three who were deceased.
While only one gun was found in the home, Fuller and others frequently fired guns in the backyard, Patterson and another neighbor said.
“There were a lot of cars in and out all the time”, the woman said.
Another neighbor, Ronnie Patterson, described Fuller as paranoid and seemed to be “scared of everything”.
Patterson said that Fuller shot at milk jugs, cans, and trees. What are you supposed to think?
Sometimes Fuller drank alcohol while shooting, and sometimes the children or others were there while the shooting took place, Patterson said.
“Absolutely handsome”, Neighbor Lisa said.
A picture on Fuller’s Facebook page showed a paper target shooting sheet with a human silhouette.
