Vin Diesel announces sequel to The Last Witch Hunter
While we found the trailer semi interesting and it’s not hard to be a fan of Diesel’s work (although preference heads towards his Riddick and F&F work over anything else he’s done) we’re not sure if it merits a franchise just yet.
“The Last Witch Hunter” will hit theaters on October 23. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe, including Kaulder (Vin Diesel), a valiant warrior who managed to slay an all-powerful Queen Witch, decimating her followers in the process.
Mark Canton produced via his Mark Canton Productions banner along with Bernie Goldmann and Diesel via his One Race Entertainment banner. Screen Gems was similarly gung-ho about The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones launching a franchise in 2013, to the point where the studio had greenlit a sequel and tapped Sigourney Weaver for a role before witnessing the first film become a crushing box office disappointment. The Last Witch Hunter is scheduled to release in October. The news was declared by the actor himself via Facebook. In the moments right before her death, the Queen curses Kaulder with her own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife.
Vin Diesel already has one billion-dollar baby in the Fast & Furious franchise, but Lionsgate is hoping that he can make room for one more multi-movie commitment in his busy schedule. It is story about an immortal witch hunter who has been hunting for centuries in search of his long lost love.
Today, he is the only one of his kind the last witch hunter. Kaulder, now in the modern day, has to join forces with a good witch in order to stop a coven of witches from unleashing a plague on all humanity.
