Flash Flood Watch Is In Effect For Westchester County
Northwestern Ingham County is under a flood advisory until 12:15 a.m. Tuesday and flooding has already occurred on some main streets in Lansing.
The watch is in effect for parts of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
Downpours that are heavy will cause localized flooding on area roadways where drainage is usually poor.
The watch issued by National Weather Service includes rainfall of 1 to 2 inches.
Roads in the area are flooding and drivers are being directed to exercise extreme caution while driving, according to police statements. On top of the heavy rain, one or two of the storms could become severe with gusty winds in excess of 60 miles per hour possible, Church said.
To sum it up, a Flood Advisory is less serious than a Flash Flood Warning. Rain is expected to begin late tonight, around 3 a.m., with thunderstorms developing throughout the morning and into Tuesday afternoon.
A mostly cloudy night is in store for the area with the low temperature expected to be about 61 degrees.
