Valbuena heading back to France
France worldwide Mathieu Valbuena has signed for Lyon on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
He passed a medical in Lyon on Tuesday morning having arrived in the city on Monday night and is due to be officially unveiled later on Tuesday afternoon.
Valbuena scored six times in 29 appearances for Dynamo last season, with reports claiming he asked for a move this summer after the Russian side was not allowed to participate in the Europa League for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
Valbuena is expected to have his move announced imminently as he will partner Ligue 1 stars Alexandre Lacazette and Nabil Fekir in what should promise to be a devastatingly pacey and technically superb front three.
The diminutive attacking midfielder spent eight years at Marseille and became one of the club’s finest players in France, so much so that Marseille honoured Valbuena by retiring his number 28 shirt in August 2014.
Valbuena is the fourth signing for last season’s runners-up Lyon after Brazil full-back Rafael and Frenchmen Claudio Beauvue and Jeremy Morel.
