Arsenal and Man Utd discover ‘astronomical offer’ could seal transfer of
Arsenal risk missing out on another of their reported summer targets as Juventus are understood to have made an improved €26m bid for Julian Draxler.
The Bianconeri have long been paired with the German attacking midfielder but have now seen their hopes of securing his signature dashed by the Gelsenkirchen club.
Schalke are working hard to keep their star man at the club, but Juventus are putting in serious legwork in an effort to take Draxler to Italy.
That offer comprises of a €17m fee and then an additional €9m in bonuses, and it is believed that the player himself has already agreed to a five-year deal with the club, according to Football Italia.
But the German club’s chief Horst Heldt has admitted they could be convinced to part with their prize asset.
“Our plan is not to sell Julian”, Heldt told the Rheinischen Post.
“We want to keep him, but we can only definitively put the issue to bed on August 31”.
However, they are set to receive some competition from Juventus, with the Serie A champions also being linked to the Germany duo.
The Italian newspaper also reports that head coach Massimiliano Allegri is keen in finding a replacement for Arturo Vidal and sees Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan as an ideal solution to bolster his side.
