Lahore ATC to try Kasur scandal suspects
Scores of people protested against Inspector General Punjab Police Mushtaq Sukhera after he expressed his lack of knowledge about probe into a child sex abuse scandal which has been roiling the country since Sunday.
It should be mentioned that a gang of 20 odd pedophiles is alleged to have molested 280 underage children, shot their videos, sold and uploaded on internet these videos containing the sickening act with minor boys and and resorted to blackmailing in Hussain Khanwala village in Kasur.
Another four applicants filed their complaints at jail today with regards to the child abuse scandal. The Home Secretary, on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, had sent a reference to the Chief Justice for holding a judicial inquiry into the incident following an outcry by civil society members, opposition parties and media to “thoroughly investigate” the matter.
On the other hand, Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Manzoor Ahmed has rejected Punjab government’s request of a judicial inquiry into the incident.
On Monday Pakistan’s upper and lower houses of parliament passed unanimous resolutions condemning the abuse and demanding exemplary punishment for the culprits.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also ordered a review the situation, law and order and steps taken under the National Action Plan in the province.
The total number of suspects arrested in custody stands at 13 who have been booked in seven cases.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahirul Qadri said such a crime could not occur without the protection of government and police officials.
