Two community health centers receive ACA funding
Evidence shows patients choose health centers because they are convenient, affordable, provide quality care and offer a range of services from a team of caring professionals. The program has now grown more than 9000 community health centers nationwide, helping some 23 million Americans. A key part of the solution lies in Louisiana’s Community Health Centers.
“How to prevent illnesses before someone becomes sick”, says Jolly, “is a huge cost savings to individuals and to the health care system overall”.
The health centers work to provide preventable and primary care to patients regardless of their ability to pay.
“Across the country, health centers have provided a source of high-quality primary care for people in rural and urban communities for 50 years”, said Acting Deputy Secretary Mary Wakefield in a prepared statement. These awards build on the $101 million awarded to 164 new health center sites in May.
Health centers are the trusted provider of choice for many families, whether they are insured or not. Community health centers go beyond simple health care delivery to solve problems that can affect community health, such as nutrition and joblessness. Each community health center is unique and through innovative models is working to deliver services to Nevadans in need.
The federal Department Health and Human Services announced $2.7 million in funding to five Maryland health centers, including Health Care for the Homeless and Total Health Care in Baltimore. By emphasizing the importance of preventative treatment and keeping patients out of the emergency room, health centers save our state $349 million, spur local economies, and generate jobs. Were it not for the broad bipartisanship support from congress, 15,000 to 18,000 Nevadans would have lost access to care.
