Phillies’ Franco hit in arm, leaves game

Yasmany Tomas, Welington Castillo and A.J. Pollock all homered, as the D-backs routed the Phillies 13-3 in front of 16,495 fans at Chase Field Monday night.

He was hit on the right side of the head by a backswing on a popout by Phillies right fielder Domonic Brown and was removed in the eighth inning, although he said he was fine. I’m not sure if there is a good side here and really I’m not sure if there is any good bet here… He leads all major-league rookies in slugging (.490) and OPS (.828.). He will report to Philadelphia’s Triple-A affiliate, Lehigh Valley. The Diamondbacks hand the ball to Jeremy Hellickson for his first career start against the Phillies. That moved him into fifth place all-time in Diamondbacks history, ahead of current Washington Nationals manager Matt Williams. He’s been hit a little bit.

Also worth noting is that the Diamondbacks entered Tuesday play one game below.500.

Diamondbacks: Reliever Randall Delgado is expected to pitch in a rehab assignment on Wednesday as he works his way back from a sprained right ankle. He could be activated soon after…. He has never faced the Diamondbacks and will be making his 10th start of the season.

Phillies: RHP David Buchanan (2-6, 7.23 ERA) is the scheduled starter Tuesday.
