Prisoners say they were beaten after Matt, Sweat escaped
No inmates besides David Sweat and the deceased Richard Matt were found to have any connection with the prison break; several prison employees, on the other hand, have been charged, suspended, or fired.
“Where are they going?”
Sweat and Matt’s housing area-called the “honor block” as it was an earned privilege for prisoners who had exhibited good behavior-was especially targeted, with many inmates being moved from the Clinton Correctional Facility to other prisons. “What did you hear?” a guard allegedly demanded.
The first beating lasted about 20 minutes, after which the prisoner was returned “bleeding” to his cell. “How much are they paying you to keep your mouth shut?”
This serves as a compound picture of David Sweat, still left, and Richard Matt, who exactly runaway beginning with the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York on June five, 2015. One guard had the initials CIU on his jacket, he said.
Inmates have said that the Department of Corrections is looking into the allegations of brutal interrogations – several said they have been visited by members of the department’s Office of Special Investigations. “Any findings of misconduct or abuse against inmates will be punished to the full extent of the law”, she said. Matt was shot and killed by a federal agent, and two days later, a state police officer shot and detained Sweat.
“The officer … slams my head into the pipe along the wall”, Alexander alleged, according to the Times. Alexander said officers shouted questions as he was punched.
“We have been daily getting complaints along these lines from around the state”, Michael Cassidy, a Plattsburgh-based lawyer for Prisoners’ Legal Services told the New York Times. “The other two get up and start hitting me also in the ribs and stomach…”
The Times quotes numerous inmates who described a pattern of harsh interrogations, beatings and threats, targeting inmates suspected of having information about the high-profile escape.
