This system is then expected to push north and into the south of England during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The yellow warning, issued by the Met Office today (Tuesday), is in place from 6am on Thursday to 11.50pm on Friday.
Rain is likely to be persistent, with hail and thunder possible in Kent. It will ease during the evening, with the most eastern areas the last to feel its force by the end of the day.
On Friday, 25 to 40mm of rain is possible in six to 12 hours, with as much as 70mm possible in some local areas by the end of Friday. It predicts the wet weather will move east and leave behind some sunshine.

Drivers are advised to stay in their vehicle and telephone for help if trapped in water, or wait for the flood to subside.
