Friendsfest offers chance to visit Monica’s home, Central Perk
Comedy Central’s FriendsFest will take place September 16-Sept.
The VIMN backed broadcaster has renewed their licensing deal with the studio’s global sales arm Warner Bros.
Comedy Central UK and WBITD have a long-running relationship, dating back to the acquisition of Two And A Half Men more than a decade ago. Comedy Central – the exclusive home of the much-loved sitcom in the UK – are putting on a Friends Festival later this year.
Despite the fact that the last new episode aired in 2004, Comedy Central UK says that the share of viewing of the Friends franchise has risen 11% year on year so far in 2015.
And if you can’t make it to London, Comedy Central UK will be repeating all 236 episodes of Friends on weekdays starting from Monday, August 24.
The “celebration of one of the greatest sitcoms of all time” runs in the capital at the Boiler House in Brick Lane from September 16-20, and tickets are only £5 each. “The performance and renewal on Comedy Central reinforces that Friends continues to be a culturally relevant program making it one of the few reliable hit shows that crosses generational lines and still attracts a large and diverse audience on linear television”.
‘As we celebrate news that Comedy Central will remain the exclusive TV home of Friends, it’s great to give something special to fans and what better way than with FriendsFest’.
“The venue will be transformed into the ultimate Friends experience and will include a recreation of the set of Monica’s apartment, an exhibition of original props and memorabilia, plus the chance for fans to sit on the iconic orange sofa featured in the show”, the network said.
Friends fans – ever dreamt of hanging out in Monica’s apartment, or grabbing a coffee from Central Perk?
