Hope Akpan Joins Blackburn Rovers on a 2-Year Deal
Reports have emerged this morning that Reading central midfielder Hope Akpan is on the verge of a move to Blackburn Rovers.
Since signing for Swansea in the summer of 2014 from Swedish side Ostersunds FK, the 22-year-old has made 11 Barclays Premier League appearances for the Welsh outfit, 10 as a substitute.
The 23-year-old, who has won four worldwide caps for Nigeria, has signed a two-year contract with Rovers.
Nigerian global Akpan could make his debut at Huddersfield Town as Rovers seek a first win of the season after 2-1 defeats to Wolverhampton Wanderers and The Shrews (both at Ewood) with it third time luck at The John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon?? “That’s the bit that really gets you”.
Reading manager Steve Clarke said: “Last season was a frustrating one for Hope due to injury and lack of game-time”.
“It is an area of the pitch where we are well covered and it would be wrong to deny Hope the chance to play matches and start to move his career forward again”, Clarke told the Royals’ website.
