Florida Woman Charged with Leaving Children in SUV to Get a Drink
Apopka police said a woman changed her story a few times when faced with witness reports that she left her two young children in an SUV while she drank at a bar Sunday afternoon.
“The kid hit the horn”.
The incident happened Sunday at Froggers Grill & Bar in Apopka.
He said the auto was running but the children were unbuckled and unsupervised.
Froggers said King has been banned from the bar indefinitely. “I have kids. These two kids in there by themselves”, Jackson said.
King, who presented an Oklahoma driver’s license, told police she was in the area to get a new cellphone. While the report showed King had one drink, police said she admitted to being under the prescription drug, Prozac. “That’s when a cop pulled and she was saying no, she didn’t leave her kids in the vehicle”, said Jackson.
King denied being in the bar, but Apopka police said King tried and failed to start her SUV by blowing into a device to test her blood-alcohol level, which was installed after previous DUI arrests.
However when she went to turn it back on, the vehicle had been fitted with an interlock device, and King was required to blow into a breathalyzer.
Witnesses say King left them alone for twenty minutes, then drove them around the block and then parked again, where the police were waiting. (April’s 4-year-old son) could be seen blowing into the device, ‘ the police report said, according to WESH.
According to police, the bar’s general manager and four others reported seeing King drinking at the bar.
