Hyundai Vision G Concept Coupe revealed
It likely won’t make it to production as-is, but it will heavily influence the next generation of both the Genesis sedan and the Genesis Coupe. More so on the inside as the cabin of the Vision G Coupe Concept employs a mixture of quilted ivory-schemed leather coupled to lashings of chrome and wood.
“We’re kind of tickling this idea right?” “In keeping with a design that speaks to the owner rather than “the spectators” who might see the auto on the road, Vision G appears dynamic and in constant motion”, said Christopher Chapman, head of Hyundai’s U.S. design center and leader of the coupe’s design team. Meanwhile, the roofline stretches rearward nearly all the way to the end of the decklid, giving it nearly a “baseball cap” profile and leaving some question as to whether Hyundai intended it to be a hatchback or a coupe.
That said, there are abundance of nifty details whose originality is questionable but all of which seem to work nicely in sum. It is, says Hyundai, the future. The vehicle also offers amenities that reinforce that idea of “respectful luxury”, like doors that automatically opened as if handled by a valet.
The concept hints at a possible move within Hyundai’s lineup to establish a luxury sub-brand, Schreyer told a small group of media at the debit outside the museum.
Under the skin is the same rear-wheel-drive platform found in the latest Genesis sedan, and sitting up front is the automaker’s familiar 5.0-liter V-8 engine which delivers 420 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.
Hyundai Vision G Coupe Concept equally balances style and performance and sports an outstanding new exterior design with a long hood and increased proportions. Then again, you’ve got former Audi designer Peter Schreyer at the helm of the design team, so we’d expect nothing less. “I think we’ve been successful in balancing the contrast of big strong luxurious coupe that doesn’t necessarily shout its presence…it celebrates luxury with respect and no superficiality”.
