Is That ‘Frozen’ and ‘Tarzan’ Theory True? ‘Frozen’ Director Speaks Out
But now he’s re-opened this theory all over again, still sticking by the fact that the two Disney movies could well be interlinked.
The co-director revealed in a Reddit AMA that the king and queen of Arendelle that they didn’t die with their newborn “baby boy”.
Last year, at the apex of the hype over Disney’s Frozen, the director of the film, Chris Buck, rocked Disney fandom with a possible theory: that the movie that launched 1,000 “Let It Go ” YouTube covers could be linked to another member of the Disney vault, Tarzan.
If that tragic plot sounds familiar, it’s what happened to Tarzan’s parents! Elsa was subsequently deemed a misunderstood villain, although many fans found themselves empathizing with the character.
Instead, Buck claimed that they had been washed up on an island, where they built a tree house and then got “eaten by a leopard”.
“When you’re working on a feature, you have a lot of time to think about stuff because it takes four years to make one”.
“Jen [Lee] and I are just getting back into the story room together and throwing ideas around”. The idea proposed by fans involved Anna and Elsa’s parents, who were lost at sea in a shipwreck, owning the ship that Ariel swims through in The Little Mermaid, but surviving the shipwreck to have their new son in a jungle somewhere, leading to Tarzan. Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at sea a little bit longer than we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy. “They got washed up on a shore in a jungle island”, she wrote. “So in my little head, Anna and Elsa’s brother is Tarzan”.
The director of the next Disney movie “Frozen 2”, had finally shared some insights on what fans can expect in the sequel – and it has something to do with Elsa’s personality.
So maybe they’re not actually connected – but Buck doesn’t have a problem with people believing they are. “I’m very excited about doing it”, Buck said, referring to the sequel.
