Mayor Richard Fledderman arrested: Batesville, Ind. mayor facing charges in
Indiana State Police say 60-year-old Batesville Mayor Richard Fledderman was served with an arrest warrant Tuesday.
Police say Mayor Richard C. Fledderman, 60, of Batesville, paid for sex acts with Randy Wigle-Stevens, 42, of Indianapolis, in June.
The mayor of Batesville has been arrested for patronizing a prostitute.
Investigators stated Wigle-Stevens threatened to disclose their encounter until Fledderman paid him extra money. Stephen Wheeles said in a statement Tuesday.
Wigle-Stevens was charged with a felony count of failure to disclose risky communicable disease, as well as one count of prostitution and one count of intimidation, both misdemeanors.
The Ripley County Superior Court will set the initial hearings for Fledderman and Wigle-Stevens but those dates have not been released.
Judge days for Wednesday, both are required to become planned. He was elected to three four-year terms, but was defeated in the May Democratic primary by Elmer “Mike” Vonderheid.
