Indianapolis brewery slams Tom Brady on 20000 beer cans
The words “Tom Brady Sux” are stamped on the bottom of cans of Sun King Brewing’s Wee Mac Scottish Ale, right next to the born on date.
The Wells Report had been released a week prior and Brady’s 4-game suspension had been handed down by the NFL just two days before.
And let’s face it, throwing a few barbs Brady’s way isn’t the worst way to get there.
Zak Keefer, who covers the Indianapolis Colts for the Indianapolis Star, tweeted out a picture of one of the cans on Monday. Biscuit is his name. In fact, under Andrew Luck, the Colts have been outscored by the Patriots by an average of 29 points in four games.
“It wasn’t an idea we came up with at all”, Robinson continued.
Sun King says while they appreciate the exposure the message has given their product, they’ve instituted a new policy that says messages on the bottom of cans must be submitted for approval.
The brewery puts a different phrase on the cans each day, and this phrase elicited a “What the hell were you thinking?” from Sun King management, Robinson noted, adding that he personally thought it was amusing.
And for those people who do notice, Robinson believes Biscuit’s prank may turn out to be one of the most positive – albeit unintended – marketing ploys. So Biscuit put ‘Tom Brady Sux’. “We are an Indianapolis-based brewery, we wanted to grow to become Indianapolis” beer.
