Food terrorism? Gov’t hits Maggi with Rs 640 cr claim under Consumer
Another blow to the Nestle Company and a flashy news regarding the banned Maggi in India.

As ban on Maggi noodle continues, food safety regulator FSSAI today seized 20,000 kg of the instant noodle from a warehouse on outskirts of the city, a senior Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Authority official said.
“The company said no added MSG, despite presence of MSG”, sources said adding that the company has been charged for misleading advertisements that Maggi noodles is healthy.
In the petition filed before the NCDRC, the ministry has charged that Nestle India has mislead consumers claiming that its Maggi noodle was healthy – “Taste bhi healthy bhi”.
“The file on the Maggi issue has been cleared by the Minister”.
The government on 11 August asked Nestle India to recall Maggi noodles as its samples were found not only to contain more than permissible limits of lead but also violated the labelling needs.
Nestle India said it has not yet received a copy of the complaint with the national consumer forum.

Nestle India contests the Indian laboratory tests and says its products are safe.
