Cancer leads sister to give birth to twin’s baby
She was able to deliver a healthy baby with a 31 week C-section and start chemotherapy immediately.
Six years ago, twin Allison Ardolino-Dinkelacker was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer while she was 30-weeks pregnant with her first child, their friend Allison Maffettone said.
But luckily for Allison, her identical twin sister Dawn Ardolino Policastro was sat right next to her and didn’t miss a beat. According to Facebook post Dawn told Allison’s doctor, “It doesn’t matter because I am going to carry their child”. That killed the possibility of a desired second pregnancy for her, something Dawn was told when she accompanied her sister to an appointment with an oncologist.
Alison, now 37, and her husband wanted to add one more to the happy family.
When the twin sisters announced their pregnancy with the photo above, the post went viral attracting 69,000 likes and more than 12,000 shares.
Earlier in August, Hudson William was born.
On her Facebook page, Allison wrote: “How can we begin to thank you for the tremendous generosity and sacrifice you have so willingly bestowed these last few months?”
Allison wore a “delicate white dress with lace detailing” even as Dawn wore a “strapless maxi dress with a colorful design”.
Congratulations to Allison Dinkelacker, and much gratitude to Dawn Policastro, the woman’s twin whose baby Hudson was born without further complications.
“Dawn, you amaze me!” “You only see “I can”, and so many times YOU DID!” Allison wrote online. Although biologically this child will be made up of the two of us, we certainly hope that the strength, selflessness, and power you have shown are traits that he takes from you during his life. “Her selfless act of love and devotion has finally made their dreams come true!”
