Doctor Who: Season 9 trailer

There’s also a fresh look at Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams’ super secret role as she’s seen serving the fire-breathing cat person. Michelle Gomez (Missy) returns to plague the Doctor and Clara in the season opener, and UNIT are back with Jemma Redgrave and Ingrid Oliver (Osgood) returning to season nine following their popular entrance in season eight.

Here’s the official trailer for Peter Capaldi’s second series of Doctor Who which materialises on BBC One next month.

As the Doctor says in the trailer, “Same old, same old”. An earlier trailer gave viewers a taste of what kinds of wild and insane adventures the season holds, but this new one largely focuses on the Doctor dealing with his many, many enemies.

Doctor Who has been a staple for the network since its original premiere in 1963. There’s even a few more shots of Maisie William’s secretive new character, out of her Highwayman’s garb and into something much more extravagant.

Then, facing off against another giant alien brute he adds: “This is where your story ends”.

Reece Shearsmith, Rebecca Front, Rufus Hound, Paul Kaye, Elaine Tan, Neet Mohan, Bethany Black, Paul Courtenay Hyu, Joivan Wade, and Sophie Stone will all make guest appearances on Doctor Who this season as well.

Season 9 of the current incarnation of long-running Time Lord series Doctor Who will debut on September 19 on BBC America.
