Microsoft Postpones Ship Date For Its ‘Surface Hub’ Wall Computer To January

Since there is no official announcement from Microsoft, websites only speculate about the expectations in the upcoming addition to the surface platform mostly likely to be released in October. Since then the company hasn’t provided an update on this matter but today it has finally spoken up, Microsoft confirms that Surface Hub will start shipping on January 1st, 2016.

A lot of the specifics concerning the Surface Pro 4 are still largely in the dark due to Microsoft’s reluctance to talk about the product; but there are enough details out there now to give people a cursory understanding of what they may be able to expect.

Microsoft began taking pre-orders for the coming systems as of July 1.

The Microsoft Surface Hub is a new large-screen pen and touch device designed to advance team collaboration and productivity. At the time, Microsoft readied itself for a September 1 release date. It added, “Based on the early interest we see, we’re tuning our manufacturing process to prepare for production at broader scale”.

Now, it appears, plans are back on track. The Surface Hub was created primarily for big business and education customers. While the demand for the Surface Hub is encouraging for Microsoft, the company needs to seize the opportunity before a lower cost or more feature-packed alternative slips into the market. The variant running on Intel Core i5 processor with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM is now available for only $1,149 on the Microsoft Store while the Intel Core i7 processor variant carrying the same amount of storage and RAM as the previous model is now priced at $1,399.
