Brace yourself – you will soon be able to drink a Wheaties beer
The beer will be made by the Fulton brewery in Minneapolis and sold in Minnesota’s Twin Cities market for a limited time, according to Wheaties-owner General Mills, which is also based in Minneapolis.
Typically served in a traditional Weizen glass, HefeWheaties will be the first beer of this style brewed by Fulton.
Although there are no Wheaties in the beer, it makes a lot of sense seeing that both the cereal and hefeweizens share one major ingredient: wheat. This German-style beer often has a cloudy appearance because of the high wheat content and has a little bit of hop bitterness. But, David Oehler, marketing manager for Wheaties, said the inspiration for this beer lies elsewhere. “We enjoyed the chance to collaborate with Fulton throughout the entire process from idea generation to can design”. (Petz even worked at General Mills for a while.).
Wheaties is launching its own beer.
Athlete endorsements had long boosted the sale of Wheaties since it was accidentally created in the 1920s, the Pop History Dig noted. The beer will be first served at a “Steal the Pint Night” at Fulton taproom on August 26th.
