Yesterday, while campaigning in New Hampshire, Hilary Clinton revealed her thoughts on what everybody else it talking about in the world of politics in the U.S., Donald Trump.
“What I say is what I say”, was Trump’s non-sequitur response.
“Mr. Trump was upset with a question I asked him at the debatelast week about his electability, and specifically comments he has made in the past about women”, she said.
The comment that dominated news coverage in recent days was something Trumpsaid to CNN’s Don Lemon on Friday night.
“I’ll continue doing my job without fear or favor”, she said.
“Individuals are going to get uninterested in it. I’ve a number of religion within the voters”.
The real estate mogul was referring to Megyn Kelly, one of three journalists who moderated the first Republican presidentialdebate last Thursday.
Kelly concluded: “This is a tough business, and it’s time now to move forward”.
Later, on Monday, Trump demanded an apology from Kelly. Trump had already slammed the president, Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clilnton and his Republican rivals in the race for the White House.
“Ithink women of all kinds are really sort of horrified by this”, she told CBS, suggesting that Trump’s reaction was a sign that he is too thin-skinned.
Ailes added that he assured Trump “that we will continue to cover this campaign with fairness & balance”.
He continued to keep the door open on running as a third-party candidate and alsosaid he wouldn’t fund Planned Parenthood as president.
“I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism”, Kelly told viewers during the opening segment of her Fox News show, The Kelly File.
The initial findings may be good news for Trump, but David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center in Boston, said the frontrunner may only be benefiting from the crowded Republican field.
Soon after the phone call took place, Fox confirmed that Trump would be on Tuesday’s “Fox & Friends” and the prime time show “Hannity”.
A couple of points about Mr. Trump’s following and its anger: It does not represent a majority of the GOP, much less the country; 23 percent of Americans identify as Republicans, and Mr. Trump is the choice of about a quarter of them, for now. An independent bid would require, among other things, the building of a campaign infrastructure capable of producing and airing ads, navigating state ballot laws, etc., and to date Trump has shown no stomach for such necessary minutiae.
Trump is a reliable ratings magnet and a popular figure within the Republican party.
After the program teased an interview with Sen.
TV hosts and bookers always push for on-camera interviews, but Trump’s star power, and tendency to make provocative, made-for-cable-news statements, arguably gives him more leverage than the average candidate.
