Ice Cube’s son becomes him in ‘Straight Outta Compton’
The director of “Straight Outta Compton” says he’s “very happy with the accuracy” of the movie that depicts the creation and eventual breakup of influential rap group N.W.A. It more than peripherally touches on the strained relations between young African-Americans and police at the time.
He was able to do it in a controlled environment, and not really have these police put their hands on him, because that would hurt me if they did that for real. “The timing couldn’t be, for lack of better words, more flawless”.
“This is a major motion picture we’re talking about, which speaks to cultural relevance in a profound way”, Boyd said. “Nothing else matters. Not to me”. Nods DJ Yella (Neil Brown Jr.), “At least we got those muthaf***as on video”. Now the white kids are listening to this music.
“To get back to N.W.A., they told that story as what was going on”, Hervey said.
The Game hit the red carpet for the premiere of “Straight Outta Compton” on Monday night in Los Angeles wearing eye-catching custom N.W.A Air Jordan 6 Lows. “Months of interviews with the original members of the group, out of which came these stories of how they interacted with law enforcement”.
Straight Outta Compton is self-important in the way of many biopics, pausing frequently to celebrate the genius of N.W.A.’s most famous founders: Eazy-E (Jason Mitchell), Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), and especially Dr.
“We’re going to have quite a few officers out there who will take care of any situation that arises”, he said. “To us it wasn’t too bad, but the police brutality was like that”. You don’t have to worry about pulling over a 6-4 Impala and it’s got an AK-47 in the trunk and two kilos of coke or whatever, and all of a sudden they’re going to defend that with their lives. It was really like that. It brings back memories of when I got roughed up by them. Now it’s moved to the suburbs. Also frighteningly present is infamous gangster and rap mogul Suge Knight (played so well by R. Marcus Taylor, you think it’s a good thing the real Knight is behind bars). “We started representing a city, then we started representing the whole coast”. As long as they keep getting off, nothing’s gonna happen.
N.W.A. has gone from outlaws to icons.
The movie, which value $28 million to make, follows the long-lasting rap group N.W.A from its scrappy beginnings within the mid-’80s to its unlikely success and demise of member Eazy-E.
The summer box office cooled in August after a slew of films, including superhero reboot “Fantastic Four”, failed to lure many moviegoers. We have a feeling you know the quote that had Microsoft Theatre erupting in cheers.
Ice Cube: We first took him on tour, me and my wife, when he was 1ᄑ…. Meanwhile, in last year’s Ride Along, Ice Cube played a cop who fires guns at unarmed civilians, falsely accuses a kid of assaulting a police officer, and brags that his Wi-Fi password is “SuspectShot23”.
