New Delhi, August 12 Ford India on Wednesday launched its new compact sedan, Figo Aspire, priced between Rs 4.90 lakh and Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) available in both petrol and diesel variants.
The vehicle will come with driver and passenger airbags as standard, which will be a first in the segment. With an aggressive ex-showroom price starting at Rs 4.89 lakh for petrol and Rs 5.89 lakh for diesel variants, the latest entrant from Ford undercuts its arch rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent on the pricing front.
B-cars, loosely defined as compact cars, are key to the growth of automakers like Ford in India and beyond: global sales of such cars are expected to rise by more than a third to 11.4 million by 2020, according to analysts at IHS Automotive. The company has been struggling to keep up the pace in India, a market where small, entry-level but powerful cars are highly popular – and the dominating forecast are Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai. With this thorough outbreak the company is also planning to launch two more cars by the end of 2015 to rev up the sales in India, reports ONCARS.
Compared to other compact-sedans, the Figo Aspire undoubtedly looks much more appealing and is a well-proportionate design.
Not only the Figo Aspire is a looker on the road, but is also very practical.
The second petrol engine option is a 1.5l motor which delivers 112 PS power and 136 Nm torque. The top of the line variant is in fact offered with six-airbags, which is a first-in-class safety feature.
