Roberto Soldado’s departure from Tottenham confirmed – by Erik Lamela
Erik Lamela has let slip, through his official Twitter account, that Tottenham team-mate Roberto Soldado will be leaving the club; however, the playmaker was quick to delete it.
Soldado wasn’t in the club’s matchday squad as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on the league’s opening day, and it looks like his replacement is on the brink of signing at White Hart Lane already.
However, Soldado has struggled to replicate even a slither of his La Liga form during his first two campaigns in North London, putting his future under scrutiny from the get-go.
It is thought the former Real Madrid and Valencia striker had just arrived in the UK on his way back from Spain.
Lamela’s tweet all but confirmed Soldado’s departure wishing him all the best at his new club.
Although he said no deal had yet been finalised, he added: “He has been given permission to travel to Spain and the club will announce whether anything will happen or not”.
Tottenham are also close to bringing in a new striker in Lyon’s 21-year-old Clinton N’Jie. “Thank Daniel Levy for making a consistent offer”, Aulas said.
The transfer would, though, leave Mauricio Pochettino’s side short on options up front.
