Pollen indicates mystery girl likely from Boston area
In fact, while she was found on a rocky shoreline in Boston Harbor, experts don’t even know whether her body spent time in the water.
There are a few new details in the case of “Baby Doe”, the child whose body was found on the shore of Deer Island in Massachusetts.
Because of the pollen tests, police believe she was placed on Deer Island, rather than the idea that she washed up there after drifting from another location.
The girl was named Baby Doe by investigators and is estimated to be 4 years old.
Among other clues, authorities tried to piece it together by taking pollen found on the girl’s trousers and blanket and sending it to a government lab for analysis.
Officials told The Boston Globe the pollen samples are likely from the Boston area.
Investigators have looked into hundreds of tips from 30 states and at least four countries, though none have produced a breakthrough yet. “What’s her name?” An autopsy was inconclusive, and recent results from toxicology testing didn’t reveal any more information, Wark said.
“We don’t have enough evidence at this point to identify her cause of manner of death”, Wark said. Officials are still waiting for the results of isotope testing, which would show the retention of chemicals on her teeth, hair and nails, reports the station. According to the Suffolk County DA’s office, the results link the brown-eyed, brown-haired child to the Boston area.
