US Army Green Beret killed in an attack on Kabul
Tragedy has once again struck a Bristol, R.I., couple, whose eldest child, a decorated U.S. Army Green Beret killed Friday in combat in Afghanistan, became the second son they’ve lost in the past decade.
Just hours ago, the Department of Defense released the identity of the American Special Forces Soldier who was killed in Afghanistan yesterday.

The pentagon says 35-year-old Master Sergeant Peter Andrew McKenna Jr. died Sunday in Kabul during an attack. But Rhode Island emotionally is still home.
Congressman David N. Cicilline said that McKenna “embodied all of the best values of our state” and feels fortunate to have met McKenna last month at the Bristol Fourth of July Parade.
“RI is grateful for his service”, she wrote. “He just seemed very happy to be surrounded by his family and friends”.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of First Sgt”.
Master Sgt. Peter McKenna was being remembered Monday by family, friends and state officials.
In recognition of his sacrifice, and of his family’s sacrifice, the Governor is ordering the Rhode Island flag be flown at half staff beginning Tuesday through First Sgt.
As part of the 7th Special Forces Group, McKenna specialized in training local forces.
McKenna earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Studies from Norwich University in 2015 and is a graduate of the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course and Senior Leader Course.
