Girl, 5, dies after getting head trapped in lift at house
Emergency services were called to the scene in Emmadale Close, Weymouth, at around midday on Thursday to help child, who is not being named, after she was trapped in the lift. It is thought the lift was a through-floor disability lift installed at the house.
Emergency services attended the incident but the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The girl’s family have been notified, and Emmadale Close, where the accident occurred, remains cordoned off.
Paramedics, police and firefighters were present, but the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The street where the house is located is now closed while the scene is being examined.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: ‘An investigation has been launched today following the tragic death of a five-year-old girl.
Dorset Police said an investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances around her death.
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called to Emmadale Close in Weymouth at 11.48am this morning to reports of one female with a head injury”.
