Ingress Developer Niantic Labs Parting Ways with Google
Newsbrief: Niantic Labs, Google’s in-house game studio, and the team responsible for augmented reality cyberpunk thriller, Ingress, will soon become an independent company.
Niantic Labs added that it will look to build upon the success that it found with Ingress, which has been downloaded over 12 million times and has attracted over 250,000 people to live events happening across the world.
Niantic Labs announced that they’ll be taking their unique mixture of exploration and excitement for more number of audiences, and start working with some of their wonderful new alliances joining Google as backers, and collaborators. In addition, Niantic Labs said that Ingress has inspired its users to walk an aggregate distance equivalent to the distance between the earth and the sun, while exploring, playing and discovering.
At the beginning of the week, Google filed plans with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for the new public holding company, which Google will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of.
Google – the giant search engine company is splitting one of its game-developing company – Niantic Labs, as per company’s official statement made on Wednesday. Moreover, it is important for Nest to be a part of Google, since it is a promising category, and shows Google’s move toward the Internet of Things (IoT), where every home appliance will be connected to the Internet.
Users should not be anxious about their data, since the company will transfer it from Google’s services, as per privacy policies.
It remains to be seen how Google restructures over the next few months, to fill up the 26 letters of the alphabet. “Susan [Wojcicki] is doing a great job as CEO, running a strong brand and driving incredible growth”.
Two days after announcing a sweeping reorganization, Google has detailed its first departure.
