Crews working to prepare Iowa State Fair grounds

The Iowa State Fair has announced a replacement for Meghan Trainor at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

The new main act was originally planned to open for Trainor. Those tickets will be refunded.

Trainor, a popular 21-year-old who scored a No. 1 hit last year with “All About That Bass”, says she’s devastated.

DES MOINES, IA (08/11/2015)(readMedia)- On Monday, August 17, the Iowa State Fair will honor active and retired military throughout the day. Carrie Underwood, Def Leppard and Reba McEntire are all scheduled to perform during the fair.

Northey says many commodity organizations distribute information to fair attendees, and the state ag department will feature two exhibit booths, one in the Agriculture Building and the other at the Varied Industries building.

Grandstand acts are the third-highest revenue source for the fair, which runs August 13-23 this year.

Lady Antebellum and Billy Currington’s show last year drew 10,588 fans, bringing in more than $516,000. Rock bands Foreigner and Styx raked in almost $351,000 in their joint appearance.

Shows selling at least 10,000 tickets are considered sold out, Williamson said.

Country singer Reba McEntire’s show on August. 16 has sold almost 9,800 tickets so far.
