58103 ranks high on Realtor.com list
Represented by zip code 06092, the 4.4-square-mile section of Simsbury was the only Connecticut zip code to make the list of 50 geographies where properties have the most viewings and sell the fastest.
ZIP codes making the list, announced today by realtor.com, a leader in online real estate services operated by News Corp [NASDAQ: NWS], [NASDAQ: NWSA]; [ASX: NWS], [ASX: NWSLV] subsidiary Move, Inc., are distinguished by healthy housing dynamics, strong local employment and neighborhood “it factors”.
The average cost of a Crestwood house is about half the price in the neighboring ZIP codes of Kirkwood and Webster Groves, the website says. (28th) and Southborough, Mass. (48th).
Centennial, Colorado reported the nation’s lowest median age of inventory, with homes selling in approximately two weeks, Realtor.com reports. That’s comparable to Westport, which has the fifth highest median household income in Connecticut.
Centennial, and specifically zip code 80122, is one of the hottest zip codes in the nation for home sales. Worthington has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country.
Melrose was also selected because it provides “favorable conditions for millennials considering a home purchase”. “The median income for households headed by 25- to 34-year-olds is $88,000-67% higher than for the average millennial in the U.S.”, Realtor.com said of Melrose. About 32 percent of households in the top 10 earn more than $100,000 per year, about a third more than the national average of 23 percent. Millennials in Crestwood were on average able to afford 60 percent to 70 percent of the homes on the market.
“Choosing a neighborhood to call home is not just a product of economic factors; it’s an intensely personal decision”, Smoke said.
Other factors like commute times, school systems, public transportation, and proximity to shopping and restaurants also play into the ranking.
