August 13th, 2013 – Angry Birds Trilogy
After 14 days of flinging, smashing and popping, the flock’s all-new adventure has hit the 30 million download milestone – with a third coming from China alone.
Angry Birds 2 isn’t a money-making machine like some other top mobile games that have a similar number of downloads, according to market-intelligence firm SuperData Research.
The game collected the original Angry Birds as well as the spinoffs Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Seasons.
The success of the series has seen it adapt to trends of the mobile game industry.
“Despite initial optimism, free-to-play mobile game Angry Birds 2 is not yet a commercial triumph”, SuperData Research chief executive Joost van Dreunen wrote in a blog post.
This is why the sequel hasn’t been so well received by critics, but that doesn’t seem to count for squat in the face of these figures.
Although direct comparisons are somewhat meaningless given that game’s premium origins, the original Angry Birds took nine months to reach 20 million downloads.
It’s been shy of two weeks since Angry Birds 2 was released worldwide and the response has been humbling!
