Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman praises Broncos offense in advance
Seattle began last preseason with a 21-16 loss at Denver in a game Seahawks starters hardly played; many such as Marshawn Lynch simply stayed home.
The Seahawks are only trying to fill two spots but they are vitally important. Among the newest members of the Broncos will be Mitch Tanney, a Monmouth College graduate who was hired to be the team’s director of football analytics during the offseason. Kam Chancellor is holding out.
Carrolll said fullback Derrick Coleman may play as he works his way back from a hamstring injury, while 34-year-old rookie long snapper Nate Boyer would see some action.
“What a story. He’s never, never hinted that he wouldn’t make it back and get ready”, Carroll said. “We’re going to play Jesse”. He’s going to be out there battling.
Sure, preseason results don’t matter and blah blah blah, but when you have two teams that have established a winning culture, as these two teams have done over the last couple of years, you’re going to get players who compete no matter the setting. It appears both will be out Friday as a precaution. I think there is a real process to getting mentally right to play this game at this level that we expect. It will be big for Tyler Lockett in his return opportunities.
The Denver Broncos are scheduled to open the National Football League (NFL) 2015 Preseason with a trip to visit their old arch-enemy, the Seattle Seahawks. There won’t be many familiar faces in Seattle’s secondary for the preseason opener. But running back Christine Michael should see significant playing time. Denver head coach Gary Kubiak tries to balance his rosters, performances, rest and evaluation in training camp. Barth is accurate on field goals but struggles on kickoffs, while McManus is great on kickoffs but spotty on field goals.
It is interesting to analyze the price trend of the game following Wednesday’s news that Manning will sit out. Todd Davis, Steven Johnson, Lamin Barrow, Corey Nelson, Reggie Walker, and especially Zaire Anderson will all get a chance to impress. And even though it’s just the first of four exhibition games, coach Pete Carroll says “everybody’s playing” against Denver at CenturyLink Field (7 p.m., Ch. 13 in the Puget Sound area, NFL Network nationally).
