Emirates Takes Over Title of World’s Longest Flight
Heading west, the daily non-stop flight, to be dubbed EK251, will take 17 hours and 35 minutes (despite what Google Maps thinks).
The flight will cover 8,590 miles, which will outstrip the route of Qantas from Sydney, Australia to Dallas, Texas by only 10 miles.
Emirates will operate the flight on a Boeing 777-200LR.
The Panama City location is meant to be a convenient hub for U.A.E. travelers to reach other destinations across Central America, the northern section of South America, and the Caribbean. That flight takes just 17 hours.

Qantas now flies the longest non-stop flight in the world.
Emirates has chosen Panama as its fourth destination in Latin America.
Flights to Panama are likely to attract a number of business travellers because of the city’s standing as a regional and global hub for markets, John Strickland, Director of London headquartered aviation advisory JLS Consulting, told Gulf News by email.
With the longest distance between any two points on the globe at about 20,000 kilometers, some locations are beyond the capabilities of commercial aircraft to link with a direct route.
According to the Great Circle Mapper website, Dubai-Panama is a flight of 13,821 kilometers.
