Laurie Holden leaves NBC drama ‘Chicago Med’
In a statement that was released on Entertainment Weekly, Holden stated that she was grateful to Wolf and the cast of the series.
“Sometimes, we must take tough choices and, for family reasons, not doing Chicago Med is one of those for me at this time”.
The newest in the Chicago trilogy, which includes 2012’s “Chicago Fire” and its 2014 follow-up “Chicago P.D.”, will join forces with “Law & Order: SVU”, the showrunner and producer said at the Television Critics Assn. media tour Thursday. “A lot of work goes into it, a lot of people pitch in, but the end result, we’re really, really proud of what we come up with and hope to continue that for sure going forward”.
There will be several crossover episodes with Mr. Wolf’s “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Fire“, and in February there are plans for a four-way crossover that also brings in Mr. Wolf’s “Law & Order: SVU“.
The casting news comes on the heels of the network confirming that Laurie Holden (“The Walking Dead“) has exited the “Chicago Fire” spinoff.
Chicago Med premieres Tuesday, November 10 at 9/8c on NBC. During the show’s initial run, Holden played the role of Marita Covarrubias, an informant and agent who wasn’t a major character but still had an impact on the series.
Laurie Holden as Dr. Hannah Tramble, Nick Gelfuss as Dr. Will Halstead and S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin on “Chicago Med“. The show will add three new females roles to the show including an emergency pediatrician, a charge nurse and a young first-year resident.
That’s right, Donnell’s previously nameless pediatric surgeon finally has a name and, judging by the photo, we might have just met Chicago Med’s very own McDreamy.
Chicago Med star Oliver Platt praised the “remarkable” sense of community among the Chicago series.
