Bolton reject bids from QPR, Fulham for US defender Tim Ream
In a country where Geoff Cameron is the only starting player not wearing gloves, Ream’s move to a starting role for a team that could advance just might make the “small” £1.4 million worth it.
Neil Lennon confirmed the deal this morning and believes he can invest the money quickly into two signings before this weekend’s trip to Middlesbrough.
The rumor that Queens Park Rangers is interested in Ream has been out there for some time, but Bolton has resisted QPR’s advances to date.
It seems that QPR has snagged Tim Ream, after upping the ante to what could go as high as £2m, but now reported at £1.75m.
QPR and Fulham are locked in a derby battle already – but in this case it’s for the same players. Ream was voted as Bolton’s player of the year in each of the past two seasons for his play, and will be a huge loss for the Wanderers. “Every player has his price but at the moment we are in no panic to sell”.
“We’re not too bad defensively at the minute but we’ll look to get one more in, and then certainly one in an attacking area as well.”
“He (Ream) is a good player and he’s been very consistent for us”.
That said, with Fulham’s long history of attracting American players and the draw of living in London advantageous to most players, perhaps Ream and his young family need a change of scenery after almost four years in Lancashire. QPR look to have a better chance of gaining promotion than Bolton, but that will remain to be seen. Both are pretty good options.
