Schweinsteiger addresses his Man Utd fitness concerns
Many fans purchased Bastian Schweinsteiger’s Manchester United shirt, but with the wrong squad number, and the former Bayern Munich star has come to their rescue.
Schweinsteiger made his competitive United debut as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham in their Premier League opener.
And summer signing Schweinsteiger, who joined the club from Bayern Munich this summer, used social media to send his best wishes to his manager.
The World Cup-winning midfielder changed numbers from 23 to 31, leaving a fan who spent around £75 on getting his favourite player’s name on the shiny new Adidas Man United shirt rather upset.
“[My calf is] fine”, Schweinsteiger told MUTV. “Now I feel much better and also the game was very important to play 30 minutes”, the German said.

“I’d played twice before in the Champions League but this was something new on Saturday”.
And in a nod towards the injury issues Schweinsteiger has experienced in recent years, Kahn added: “He could run into problems relatively quickly if he does not get back to top physical condition.”
“Yes, [but] it [leaving] is not something I thought about at all”, he said. I was surprised. I hope in the future we have a lot of good results and that we can win the title’.
“I think it’s great that “Basti” has taken this step”. My teammates help me to choose restaurants, for example, and golf courses, something like this. “It is up to this team now to make its mark, achieve things and be successful again”.
