A-level results 2015: Backwell School
At Pocklington School students are celebrating an excellent set of A level results, with students achieving 72.1 per cent of grades at A* to B.
Planning to study anthropology at either the University College London or the London School of Economics is Molly Tulloch, from Dudley, who got an A* in sociology, A in English literature and B in history.
He said: “I’m overwhelmed, I’m just so happy”.
He is now heading to Southampton University to study a degree in computer science and couldn’t be happier.
He said: “I’m absolutely over the moon, I can’t believe it”.
“I have loved being at Atherton Community School”.
“I’m going to go out and celebrate”.
At Felsted School, 79 per cent of pupils achieved A* to C grades, while 100 per cent got A* to E grades. Teachers said they were delighted at the overall pass rate of 99 per cent. We welcome a broad range of students, in terms of their academic ability, and many of them have exceeded what they thought was possible.
At AS Level results were also good, with some brilliant individual results – including Alex Leigh who achieved four A grades. “These young people should be applauded for their hard work and dedication to their studies -we are very proud of them”.
She also archived a B grade in PE and will study psychology at Durham University with the hope of becoming a music therapist.
“My mum was a lot more stressed than I was”. The staff at the college have been fully supportive of me and I have come away with great results.
“I’m so proud of all my hard work and can’t wait to go to Oxford Brookes”. George attained A*s in English Language and biology, as well as A grades in maths and his Extended Project.
He said: “It is phenomenal”. He will study medicine at Cambridge.
Critics have again claimed exams are getting easier, but one North Yorkshire headteacher whose pupils achieved record results this year said that’s nonsense. The excellent teaching and support create an unbelievable environment in which to do well.
“We are all so impressed with their achievements and those that took the IB gained some fantastic results- many above the national average”.
Students at the borough’s only dedicated sixth form college achieved a near 100 per cent pass rate at A-level.
“It was really challenging but very rewarding”, she said.
