Shopkeeper complains about extortion, goon attack him with sword
Naseeruddin Mansuri, who was a customer in the shop, has been hailed a hero for rushing to defend Mr Thakur. Mr Thakur asked people to contact him or his brother with information on the thugs.
Posters were put up and flyers handed out to every shopkeeper. “The DCP had instructed the concerned police personnel to take action against the culprits”, he said. Police officials admitted that they had to let the druggies go after they paid a fine. The attack was linked to extortionists in Mumbai’s Chembur area, who had threatened to attack shops which did not pay them regularly. The baddies, who came across these posters, attacked Rajnish, with the intention of taking revenge. Shaikh was accompanied by five others, who were waiting for him in a vehicle outside.
Another man can then be seen grabbing the criminal, but he manages to slip away as a customer chases after him.
The man responsible for the attack, Akram Shaikh, was held by other shopkeepers until the police arrived and three accomplices, sitting in a auto outside, were also arrested, according to NDTV.
Search is on for two more persons in connection with the incident.
We repeat: a man walked into his establishment with a SWORD and went on the violent attack. The four arrested accused were presented in court yesterday and remanded in police custody till August 14.
