Microsoft introduces new Outlook integration with Uber, Evernote and more
The firm also promises additional add-ins in the weeks and months ahead. Now, it has also announced Evernote, Yelp, IFTTT, and Wunderlist add-ins (though that last one is technically first-party now). This is also a simple to use add-in and a clip emails from outlook. (The Evernote add-in requires Exchange IT admins to install the add-ins for those who want to use it with Exchange 2013 mailboxes.) Instructions for installing the add-ins are available on Microsoft’s site.
In May Microsoft revealed changes they are making to the Outlook.com website as the planned changes to the inbox experience and an upgraded calendar.
Earlier this year Microsoft released a feature rich preview of Outlook.com, with the promise of more to come.
Starting today, the Uber, PayPal, Evernote and Boomerang email-scheduling add-ins are available for Outlook 2013 and Outlook on the web for users with Office 365 and Exchange 2013 mailboxes. Likewise, you can use PayPal to send an email with virtual money attached (a capability Gmail has offered with its own payments service for some time). Prior to the time of your ride, you get an Uber reminder on your phone with the destination already set. Sharing work related information with colleagues becomes much easier with this new add-in. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) said that Boomerange allows the user to schedule, as well as, remind in case the user’s mail did not get a response. Wunderlist and Yelp will as well, arrive soon on Outlook and Office 365.
Do note though, that these add-in are available only for Office 365 commercial customers, meaning business, enterprise, education and government plan customers. For instance, a DocuSign integration lets users sign documents from within Outlook.
This brings into focus Microsoft’s desired end result of combining Outlook.com and Office 365, as it creates a more powerful mail platform with greater number of active users which developers might take great interest in.
