You can Stream Xbox One to Windows 10 in very high quality
If you want to try the secret setting yourself you’ll need to navigate to C:Users%USERNAME%AppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.XboxApp_######LocalState (where ###### is the random number associated with the app) and open the userconsoledata file with notepad.
That said, that might not be the biggest problem with Xbox streaming anyway. But, digging even deeper into the program will reveal that it actually has a much better quality aptly named as very high setting. Reddit users have uncovered a way to unlock a “very high quality” setting that streams games with better quality. The app enables users to stream games from the Xbox One gaming console to PC.
“There’s a high degree of inconsistency in performance that sees native 60fps games play at around 40fps via Windows 10 streaming, while 30fps titles suffer from obvious frame-pacing issues”. Microsoft has supposedly been looking into reversing the streaming capabilities between the Xbox One and Windows 10, allowing Xbox One owners to stream games from their PC to the console.
We tested it out, and there is definitely a noticeable difference, though one thing to note is that the userconsoledata files was not there until we actually streamed from the Xbox One to PC for the first time. Games look less blurred and sharper, but the required bandwidth naturally increases. After all, there’s a reason this setting is now hidden away.
In addition, the streaming buffers more frequently than on lower settings.
A post on Reddit, from OomaThurman, explains that gamers will have to go into the folder of the special application in order to change the IsInternalPreview value from False to True. Still, if your local network is solid, it’s definitely worth playing around with.
