Florida Mother Forces 4-Year-Old to Blow into Breathalyzer to Start vehicle After
An employee at Froggers noticed the children in the vehicle and called police.
A Florida woman is accused of having her 4-year-old son blow into a Breathalyzer to start her auto while she was inebriated.
Body cam footage shows April and her son in the parking lot of Frogger’s Bar and Grill in Apopka.
King – who police say exhibited slurred speech, glassy eyes, and lethargic behavior – had a breathalyzer device installed in her auto and, due to previous trouble with alcohol abuse, the device was attached to an ignition locking system that prevented the vehicle from starting unless she blew into the breathalyzer and recorded a legal reading.
WESH.com reported that King restarted her SUV during her interaction with police, prompting the interlock device to sound. When cops arrived, they said King told them that she had not been inside of the bar. Doug King said that his wife should go to jail and that she had an alcohol problem.
“I think this is the best thing for her. Rehab hasn’t worked and she hasn’t learned anything from it”, he told WFTV News.
The father is refusing to bail out his wife after the incident, and plans on taking their kids and moving back to Oklahoma. Kind’s children were released to a baby sitter, and they were not harmed.
