Lexus GS 200t Four-Cylinder Model Joins Hybrid, V

Lexus Enform for the LX 570 is more comprehensive, providing better smartphone integration and new apps that can lock/unlock doors, remotely start or stop the engine, adjust climate control, locate the vehicle in a parking lot, or set up a guest driver monitor.

The GS enters 2016 with a new GS 200t rear-wheel drive model with new luxury finishes.

Another change for 2016 involves the GS 350, whose 3.5-liter V6 now produces 311hp and 280lb-ft (379Nm) of torque – up from 306hp and 277lb-ft (375Nm) in the 2015 model.

Other technology updates include a 4.2-inch LCD display within the instrument cluster, standard head-up display, standard panoramic view exterior monitoring, optional heated/cooled front and rear seats, manual sun shades for the second row, and larger 11.6-inch entertainment screens for the rear. Navigation is now standard on all variants except the GS 200t. The 2016 LX 570 goes on sale in October.

The drivetrain is also updated with a new eight-speed transmission. LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights as well as 20- and 21-inch alloy wheels enhance the look of the LX.

Lexus Australia says local specifications and pricing will be announced closer to its launch in December. The GS 200t comes with the 2-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine that puts out 241 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the new GS gets new trims and leather colors, including a matte wood option, a “linear 3D” selection, and in the F Sport model, a new aluminum trim.

In terms of equipment, the 2016 Lexus GS gets the Lexus Safety System +, which combines Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist, Intelligent High Beam (IHB) and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
