Nation celebrates Independence Day with traditional zeal
On Friday, the day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in four provincial capitals of the country. Special prayers were offered after Fajr prayers across the country for the prosperity, integrity, and solidarity of the country.
The main flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Convention Center in Islamabad at 8:59 am.
The resulting mass migration between Hindu-majority India and Muslim-majority Pakistan is said to have been one of the largest of its kind in human history. It will be followed by the address of the Prime Minister to the nation.
He lauded Pakistan to give equal rights to minorities in every spheres of life in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The flag hoisting ceremony will also be held in Consulate General of Pakistan Jeddah at Consul General residence at 0800 hours.
A host of events, including seminars, conferences, lectures, debates, speech contests, exhibitions, quiz competitions, stage dramas and Mushairas has been arranged by different organizations in connection with the day.
Numerous Pakistanis hailed the Google move for creating a doodle to mark Independence Day of Pakistan.
The citizens lashed out at the interior ministry saying the hang up exposed the claim of the interior minister, who never tires claiming to have dented sanctuaries and safe heavens of terrorists.
Meanwhile Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greets Pakistan on its Independence Day.
Majority of the government, semi-government and private institutions have completed their preparations for celebrating 69th Independence Day to express love for the dear homeland.
With the grace of Almighty Allah, the concept of people’s rule, supremacy of Constitution and enforcement of democracy in Pakistan has strengthened.
“My fellow Pakistanis, I share in your jubilation as we celebrate the 69th Day of Independence of our motherland”, he wrote on his Facebook page.
“This is the day to rejoice the independence and freedom as a nation in line with the philosophy of Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah”, he said in his message on the eve of Independence Day.
