Confirmed: Edin Dzeko joins Roma on loan
The Serie A club will pay City €4million (£2.87m) for the season, and will then pay another €11m (£7.88m) to make the transfer permanent if certain conditions are met.
“I can only promise one thing and that is that I will give my best for this club in every game”.
The Bosnia worldwide scored 72 goals in 189 appearances for City since joining from Wolfsburg in January 2011 but he dropped down the striking pecking order.
The 29-year-old signed a contract with the Serie A outfit on Wednesday after completing his medical.
Dzeko’s arrival comes after Roma allowed Antonio Sanabria to return to La Liga on a season-long loan deal with Sporting Gijon.
Indeed, Dzeko has scored some big goals for City down the years.
Despite agreeing a four-year deal last August Dzeko struggled to establish himself as the first choice under Manuel Pellegrini last season. His 26 goals in 32 league games during the 2008-09 campaign propelled the side to the Bundesliga title for the first time in their history.
City have also allowed Stevan Jovetic to leave this summer, with Academy graduate Kelechi Iheanacho expected to offer back-up to senior strikers Aguero and Wilfried Bony, while new signing Raheem Sterling can also operate as a centre-forward. “I knew from the beginning when I started here that I wanted to stay for a long time – I can’t see any place better than here”.
