Niles Paul suffers season-ending injury
Paul suffered a dislocated left ankle during Thursday’s preseason opener against the Browns, NFL.com reports.
Paul suffered his injury when Cleveland linebacker Craig Robertson fell on Paul’s ankle and rolled over on it at the end of a first-quarter run play where Paul was blocking. “He’s a great player and a great leader”.
“It’s a huge loss for us, really”, Gruden said.
Meanwhile, backup running back Silas Redd Jr. is believed to have torn the anterior cruciate ligament and possibly the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, and also could be lost for the season.
“Right now I’m just happy to be out here and happy to compete, and I’m looking forward to playing in my first game since the injury”, Moses said.
Paul remained down on the field as trainers attended to him.
Any type of preseason injury is tough to see, but you have to feel especially brutal for Paul and the Redskins. The ankle was placed in an air cast before he left the field.
With this injury, the health of Reed, who is immensely talented but has missed 12 games in his two seasons and has been dealing with a hamstring injury, becomes even more important.
