Samsung debuts the Galaxy Note5 and S6 Edge+ smartphones
While Galaxy S6 Edge+ weighs 153 grams, Note 5 is slightly heavier at 171 grams. The company has not yet disclosed prices for the new devices, but sources said the Note5 will be launched in India in September this year, while the S6 Edge+ will hit stores in the third week of August.
Samsung has introduced sleeker phones and they are still banking on bigger screens to boost their sales.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+, a larger version of the existing edge smartphone, and the Galaxy Note 5, a phablet device that comes with a stylus were unveiled by the South Korean technology giant at a launch event in New York yesterday.
Both the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5 handsets are equipped with an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor; and boast 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, fingerprint scanners, 16-megapixel OIS f1.
Social media savvy Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 owners will also have access to 4K filming and full HD live broadcasting via YouTube. AT&T, for instance, is making available the 32 GB Note 5 for no money down on the AT&T Next plan with payments starting at $24.67 per month for 30 months. While there is plenty that we like in this device, there are few things that we missed not having in Galaxy Note 5. Note 5 is slightly shorter, narrower and thinner than last year’s Note 4. ANDREW KELLY/REUTERS The S6 Edge+ will be a larger version of the curved S6. There is a 16 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera too for selfies. Users who got to see the phone mostly describe it as blown-up Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
For those interested with the Samsung’s new phablet, it is already available for pre-order from all four major U.S. carriers.
Both phones support Samsung’s mobile payment service, following the introduction of the rival Apple Pay system integrated into the latest generations of iPhones.
Also new is the spring-loaded S Pen, which works with a brand new Air Command interface to allow users to take notes immediately upon release. The new device is focused on delivering the best multimedia experience.
The Note 5 is available in Black Sapphire and White Pearl colors.
