Packers win their exhibition opener
After losing the preseason opener to the Green Bay Packers, the New England Patriots met with the media to discuss the game.
Headed into the Patriots first scrimmage of the season, Garoppolo started the game and he played most of the game. Garoppolo is a second-year player, but given his small-school status and limited NFL game action, he’s really an extended rookie.
This year will be the 50 edition of the Super Bowl and it could very well be plausible to see the same teams going to battle tonight at the NFL final. Rookie Brett Hundley from UCLA was 4-for-6 for 60 yards and a 10-yard touchdown pass to John Crockett to close the scoring midway through the fourth quarter. David Trehey said, “It’s different right now, because no one is in that mode right now”.
2014 seventh round draft pick Jeff Janis hauled in this pass from Packers backup Scott Tolzien to give the Packers the lead back.
In addition, CBS Sports said that Rodgers is not alone, since Buffalo Bills kicker Dan Carpenter expressed that he is also not in favor of it. “Tom’s a buddy and I’d like to see it” – Rodgers paused there, as if considering his reply carefully – “get figured out before the season”.
“It feels good. It was a good outing for us”. “The pace of the offense, we were moving pretty well, moving the ball up the field”. Washington tight end Niles Paul injured his left ankle in the first half and was carted off the field with an air cast on his left leg. Browns linebacker Craig Robertson rolled up on Paul’s leg during a running play. But the Packers have made a big change this year, one that will be worth watching: there’s a new guy calling the plays. “Trying to build off of it and establish whatever I got coming for me”.
“That’s a personal conversation”, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. “You dream about this every day when you’re a kid, I want to score an NFL touchdown, but then you get there and you really don’t know what to do”.
Garoppolo went 20 of 30 for 159 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception in the 22-11 loss to the Packers. Boyce was targeted 11 times on Thursday night, 10 by Garoppolo and one by Brady in his two series, but only came down with two receptions for 19 yards. One of those passes-defensed was a near interception in the end zone. Of course those could be good things and bad things.
Garoppolo came out of the gate looking strong, demonstrating his arm strength and mobility during the first half. “If they ask me to go out there and call the defense, ‘Do this, do that, ‘ I’m just going to do it and do whatever my role is”. The team finishes the preseason against the New York Giants in what has become a yearly matchup for the teams.
